This is just the general ranking system of the Navy and Army.
Navy is overhead of the Army, however Nikki is in control of both. Notice when you are filling out a Fire Empire solider you must place both of these if it applies to you. If you got out of the army it still applies to you. You must PM me or the active fire lord concerning your rank, if you want a higher one then default give. The default is the lowest military rank possible for your actual characters rank.
Navy Ranks:
Apprentices
Sailors in the beginning stages of their enlisted careers are considered apprentices, which means they are still in the process of learning their jobs. The lowest rate in the Navy is an E-1 (which means enlisted, first rank) and is known as a Seaman Recruit. The next step up is an E-2, or Seaman Apprentice, while an E-3 is known simply as Seaman.
This is equivalent to Recruit
Petty Officers
Once sailors reach the rate of E-4, and until they reach E-6, they are known as Petty Officers. An E-4 is known as a Petty Officer Third Class, an E-5 as a Petty Officer Second Class and an E-6 as a Petty Officer First Class.
This is equivalent to Solider
Chief Petty Officers
The rates of E-7 through E-9 consist of Chief Petty Officers. Chief Petty Officers are the highest-rated enlisted members in the Navy. As part of their job requirements, they are charged with developing and teaching both junior enlisted members and high-ranking junior officers. An E-7 is classified as a Chief Petty Officer, an E-8 as a Senior Chief Petty Officer and an E-9 as a Master Chief Petty Officer. The rate of Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy is also classified as an E-9, but is only awarded to the senior most enlisted member of the Navy.
This is equivalent to Solider
Warrant Officers
Warrant officers are the technical experts of the Navy. They rank higher than enlisted members but lower than commissioned officers. Warrant officers are required by the Navy to have between 13 and 17 years of enlisted experience and must be ranked E-7 or higher as a prerequisite to promotion. A W-1 (or warrant officer, first rank) is known simply as a Warrant Officer, while a W-2 through a W-5 is known as a Chief Warrant Officer. Different rank insignias differentiate W-2s through W-5s.
This is equivalent to Captain
Officer Ranks
The lowest commissioned officer rank in the Navy is an Ensign, or O-1 (officer, first rank). An O-2 is known as a Lieutenant Junior Grade, while an O-3 is simply referred to as a Lieutenant. An O-4 is a Lieutenant Commander, while an O-5 is a Commander and an O-6 is a Captain. The highest-ranking officers in the Navy are O-7 and above and are referred to as Admirals. An O-7 is a Rear Admiral (lower half), an O-8 is a Rear Admiral (upper half), an O-9 is a Vice Admiral and an O-10 is an Admiral. There is also an O-11 rank known as a Fleet Admiral; however, it is only granted during times of war.
